The Department of Planning and Community Development provides a range of planning services related to current, advanced planning and code enforcement. These pages contain many documents providing information regarding the status of major planning projects and planning regulations.
The Department of Planning and Community Development is located at the Civic Center at 200 Old Bernal Avenue in the downtown complex next to the Library and the Police Station. Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Planners are available during these times to discuss your planning related issues. The general phone number is (925) 931-5600.
The City Planning Commission advises the Council on land use matters including zoning issues, use permits, variance and site and architectural plans. The Commission reviews and makes recommendations regarding development plans submitted by the City's Planning Department, and is also responsible for General Plan and Specific Plan reviews. Its regularly scheduled meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, at 7:00 p.m., in the City Council Chambers at the Civic Center located at 200 Old Bernal Avenue.
