Classes

The Parks and Community Services Department offers a variety of arts classes, camps and workshops for all ages and interests.

In our ceramics classes, adults can learn to use the pottery wheel and hand building techniques to make mugs, vases, bowls and wall hangings.  Kids learn how to make different animals in the Critters ‘n ClayÔ program.

Our origami classes teach kids and adults how to make a garden, zoo, sea creatures and beautiful boxes – all out of paper!

If you want to learn tap, jazz, salsa, hip hop, ballet, or ballroom dancing, there’s a class for you.  In our Wee Music classes, even little ones ages 3-5 can learn to move to music.

Drawing and painting classes teach your young artist (ages 4-6) how to use pencil, charcoal, pastels and paint, while teens and adults advance their watercolor techniques through plein air (on location) and studio painting.

Learn how to play the piano, even if you’ve never touched a piano key.

If jewelry interests you, make a one-of-a-kind creation in one of our jewelry-making classes.  You can also make bracelets, necklaces and decorative key chains while learning the traditional Korean decorating art called “Maedup” (Korean knotting).

Plain t-shirts are boring!  Your child can create a custom designed t-shirt through our “Creating Wearable Works of Art with Tech-GO” class, and give someone a special gift, or wear and show it off.

For the shutterbug in your family, we offer Portrait Photography classes, where you’ll learn lighting, posing, and clothing techniques as well as special effects.
