The mission of the SAFE Task Force is to reduce violent sexual assault crimes in Alameda County through pro-active enforcement focused on predatory sex offenders. With approximately 2,900 registered sex offenders in Alameda County, the need for such a task force is evident. The task force consists of personnel from various law enforcement agencies serving Alameda County including city, county, and state agencies.
A Pleasanton Police Department Detective is assigned to the task force and reports directly to the Safe Task Force Office in Oakland. The Detective works with other members of the SAFE Task Force to ensure that registered sex offenders are in compliance with current state and federal laws. Using records searches, short-term surveillance, and other investigative tools, the Task Force monitors the activities of known sexual offenders. Detectives assigned to the Task Force work irregular hours and throughout Alameda County.
The Pleasanton Police Department is proud to participate in this program, which is clearly focused on the continued safety of our community.
