Neighborhood Traffic Calming - Traffic Calming is a way to manage traffic so that its negative impacts on residents, pedestrians and schools are minimized. Traffic calming solutions can range from the installation of a radar speed sign near an elementary school to the installation of traffic islands to slow or restrict traffic movements.

Pedestrian Bicycle Master Plan - The City of Pleasanton has been awarded a grant for preparation of a Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan.  This grant money is provided by the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority (ACTIA) through the Measure B Bicycle/Pedestrian Countywide Discretionary Program.

The goal of the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan is to make Pleasanton a city where walking and biking are a viable alternative to the automobile, for work, school, and recreational trips.  The Master Plan will identify areas where improvement in the bicycle and pedestrian network are most needed and will provide the most benefit.  The Master Plan will identify policies and programs that will provide encouragement and safety education for pedestrians and bicyclists.

While the Master Plan will be developed by a consulting firm, the majority of the document will be the result of input from Pleasanton residents.  A Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) will be formed consisting of Pleasanton residents and liaison members from existing City commissions and committees.
