Reporting Hazards and Haz Mat Spills
Hazardous Activity Reporting
Call 911 when any of the following occurs:
- Any emergency is in progress
- A hazard poses an imminent threat to life, property or the environment.
- Smell of gas
- Carbon Monoxide Alarm Sounds
- If you think there may be a fire in your home or business
- Smell smoke
- A wall is warm/hot for no apparent reason, etc.
Non-Emergency Hazard Reporting
Call 925-454-2361 or send email us at LPFDPostmaster@lpfire.org when:
- Hazard(s) exist that Do Not pose an imminent threat to life, property, or the environment.
- If you leave a message, please provide your name and call back number in case we have questions or to provide you with an update to your concerns.
Hazardous Materials Spill Reporting
A variety of laws address reporting the unauthorized release of solid, liquid, or gaseous hazardous materials.
There are NO penalties for reporting a non-reportable release. There is penalties for failing to make a required report. When in doubt, make a report.
In general, reporting requirements fall into three categories. One release may fall into more than one category:

When there is a reasonable belief that the release poses a significant hazard to human health & safety, property, or environment.
Health and Safety Code Section 25510: |
911 response may or may NOT be appropriate any specific situation. Written follow up reports are required within 7 days if the release equals or exceeds the Federal Reportable Quantities. See below for links to lists of Federal Reportable Quantities |
